The coffee ceremony

Coffee Was born Here

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee — and at Meseker Restaurant, we serve it the way it was always meant to be served. Our daily coffee ceremony is an act of hospitality practiced unchanged for over a thousand years

1 Roasting — Green beans roasted fresh over charcoal, wafting incense smoke through the room.

2 Grinding — Roasted beans ground by hand in a wooden mukecha mortar.

3 Brewing — Ground coffee simmered slowly in a clay jebena over hot coals.

4 Three Rounds — Abol (strong), Tona (medium), Bereka (blessed). Each cup a new conversation.
